PeliPartners assisted UNSAR in annulment of RCC sanctioning decision

In 2018, Romanian Competition Council sanctioned UNSAR and nine insurers with fines amounting to approx. EUR 53mln for an alleged concerted practice on increase of the applicable fees for mandatory civil insurances. In relation to UNSAR, the fine was cancelled by Bucharest Court of Appeal, which held UNSAR as not guilty, based on the lack of intention of the association to contribute to the alleged breach. The Romanian Competition Council filed an appeal against the decision, and the Romanian Supreme Court of Justice finally ruled in favour of UNSAR, confirming the reasoning of Bucharest Court of Appeal.
